The family is now being expanded by two additional lines, the 599.F4 and 950.
The new Line 599.F4 mill cutters have been designed as dedicated flat peripheral mill cutters. In comparison to conventional cutters with protective chamfer, they are characterised by a finely ground protective radius of max 0.05 mm, and thus provide an additional protection of the cutting edge. Featuring high performance and wear resistance the cutter design offers a high degree of machining efficiency for a vast range of materials, alloy components and material hardness values up to 67 HRC.
Thanks to a new coating technology, a stabilised basic geometry and the finest micro-geometry the special mill cutter is equipped for outer and peripheral machining of hard materials - both trochodial as well as with lateral infeed. In combination with the right hard metal substrate as well as rounded shaft transitions the 599.F4 series can be employed for applications requiring the highest precision and geometric accuracy and thus enables additional applications in all moulds and component hardness values.
The 599.F4 line is available as a four-cutter in diameters of 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm. With a concentricity of 0.003 mm, a diameter ≤ 6.0 mm and the ultra-finely ground corner protection radii of 0.03 mm - 0.05 mm they are ideally suited for the machining of steels up to 67 HRC and can, with the correct application strategy, be used both for dry as well as wet machining. The new flat peripheral mill cutter perfectly complements the existing ball and torus mill cutters in the 599 series as a further all-round talent for hard metal machining. On account of their special tool properties, all the series 599 lines find universal, flexible and versatile application in mould and tool construction, in the automotive and aviation industry and in medical technology - and guarantee a process-capable and efficient performance.
The new 950 series represents an innovation in hard milling cutting at ZECHA. These mill cutters are based on the latest CBN substrate, the second hardest material after synthetic diamond. This is characterised by particular hardness, toughness and wear resistance, which contributes to the longevity of the cutting edge. The composition of the material CBN and its thermal and chemical properties are decisive in component manufacture. For the 950 series
ZECHA currently uses a titanium nitride binder base with a melting point of approximately 3,000°C, offering the greatest possible fracture resistance and cutting stability for optimal machinability of steels up to 70 HRC. Due to the carefully selected concentration of the CBN grain, the CBN mill cutters have been configured with just the right toughness for interrupt cutting. The mill cutters are employed for dry machining and achieve, with the aid of the deliberately designed facing geometry, ideal chip removal and a special micro-geometry, the best surface finish of the component.
ZECHA Hartmetall-Werkzeugfabrikation GmbH offers in its 950 series a CBN ball mill cutter and CBN torus mill cutter with two flutes. The CBN tool programme comprises ball mill cutters in diameter ranges of 0.4 mm to 2.0 mm and torus mill cutters from 0.2 mm to 2.0 mm and both have a precise radius tolerance of plus/minus 3µ.

As with the entire PEACOCK family, the micro-geometry of the mill cutters ensures high precision in hard machining. Apart from significant life cycle increases due to the stable shaft and cutting geometry, the WAD coated mill cutters achieve excellent surface qualities. In addition, the micro mill cutters are configured for shape and concentricity accuracy of 0.005 or 0.003 mm, meaning a high dimensional precision of the component can be achieved. Last but not least worthy of mention is the detailed recording of all work processes as well as the ID number at the end of the shaft of the mill cutters that enable exact reproducibility.
